Explain how mnavy "being able to attack pirates" is an advantage. The entire
point of mnavy is in fact not to deal at all with pvp. Furthermore ask how
many people in the Navy actually hunt pirates. Seriously. Do that. The only
reason people are navy are to build rep hunting down and sinking those
mindless sitting duck NPC pirate ships. No one in their right mind goes
hunting for shar or rocker or ooga (yes, i know it happened that they get
sunk, my point is that the navy do _NOT_ deter pirates _AT ALL_).

Second of all, if you cannot see what a HUGE advantage it is to be able to
plunder a merchant navy's cabin then you are a fucking moron. If you score a
big ship there could be megs of gold in there.

Last time I plundered a mnavy cabin was like years ago with fresh ship and no
qs golem =(.

I didn't say mnavy does hunt pirates, I said it is/would be possible, (just
like it is with npc ships, there are or at least there used to be plenty of
mnavy ships hunting for npc-ships for gold and training points-minmaxers, and
IMO there shouldn't, cos these pussies don't like to participate in ship
combat uhu buhu) and mnavy could plunder pirate ships aswell, so the only
difference is that the mnavy has like 5 enemies on seas and pirates have
numerous possible threats.

And I have been hunted by navy too, so don't say it doesn't happen.
How many times has captain of mnavy been pkilled because of ship_combat? (ok,
might be sometimes they refused to leave the deck), pirates are somewhat free
prey for pkilling too aren't they, and I personally think I have been killed
more than ANY mnavy captain EVER.

No penalties for pirates? aren't there enough mentioned :( too bad mnavy has a
penalty of carrying the burden of CHERRY ON TOP!

I've been pkilled twice without being sent a tell to leave my ship. One by
rocker, once by someone else, I don't remember who. I got nowhere with
claiming it was violating pkill rules.

So, it might not happen all that often, but it does happen.

However, I don't think pvp ship combat needs much in the way of changes. It's
been a long time since I've been sunk, mainly because a class 3 ship suits my
needs (intercontinental travel) and is fast enough to outrun pirates.

If coastal defenses are added, Arelium/Arelium harbor/Laenor ferry should be
pretty well defended against pirates. Other cities less so, possibly even
pirate friendly. Player cities should be able to set their alignment
(pirate/navy/neutral) and buy cannons.

My biggest ship annoyance right now is that NPC ships sit there stationary and
are more or less completely mindless.

concerned pcity owners out there, be aware that you can restrict harbor access
to prevent those pesky pirates (or pesky navy/mnavy if that's your thing!)
from landing!

I just want to clarify: I wasn't looking for punishment of the pkillers then
and I'm not looking for it now. Pkills happen, one-off pkills generally
aren't punished anyway. I was looking for clarification that pkill rules
apply to ship situations and Gore has done that nicely. Pay more attention to
the rest of that post :)
