I think there is also tanks who don't idle while partying and some of them
also might want (even) to lead... atleast I liked it and it was ok.
(no point)

I don't think Gotrek etc. exactly meant with idling that the tanks actually
idle in party, more like that nomads can't do shit except to twiddle their
thumbs and maybe do a little physical dam (I'm talking about real eq parties
etc. challenging stuff). They can't heal or blast or do anything useful
really, and in that sense they are "idling". Sure there are nomads who idle in
the real meaning but it doesn't matter since they can't to much anyway.

This "idling" is also the point why nomad is the most boring background in the
mud. Hybrids are obviously a major tune issue since newbies and midbies can't
make rocking hybrids. There is little need for nomad defs is good parties if
hybrids make the job as well. But instead of making (or trying to make)
hybrids sucking defs, why not tune the mud so that hybrids are ok and everyday
sight, and allow everyone to make a working hybrid, without making highbies
overpowering compared to others (I've no idea how this would happen, but
anyway.) And then leave the nomad bg for newbies and those who really like it.
(Or remove it, like some have suggested more or less seriously.) Obviously one
way is making nomad bg more interesting but that seems very hard with its
limitations and if you compare it to other backgrounds' guilds already in
game.

I don't see why the admins try desperately to make nomads the only good tank
bg and tune hybrids suckier and suckier. Lots of players like hybrids better
because they are interesting, and they don't want to play boring nomads unless
they have to. There are lots of ways making sure that hybrids can't be as
specialized as the pure casters, e.g. restricting hybrids from taking max
levels in caster guild or whatever. But making hybrids purely sucking tanks is
just annoying and waste of the relig/civ tank guilds.

Sorry, due to some editor bug (when I cut out some lines of the quote) caused
my post to be screwed, this is what it was supposed to be:

Basically you have hit on at least one small portion. The "hybrids" are more
fun to play so even though you suck, people still play them. Nomad is boring,
so less people play it, so it is more powerful. It doesn't have to be that
way I admit, but to some degree that is the way that it is.

P.S. Some codeslave should fix that!
