There are huge problems shadowing the future of our fair community. Main
reasons are this "eqraping" and to which contributes to the problem of sales
channels alleged death, is that the game is filled with eq, good eq even.
Almost everyone notable already has most of the things he/she/it needs. Only
very high-end shit is really added to already existing highbie eqsets. Another
problem is that mmorpgs have been around for a long time, so that the first
ones have amassed quite a lot "content" in 'em, and this "content" has been
the one that kept batmud live and kicking when the first waves of mmorpgs hit.
Then there is this problem that it seems that only "new" guilds are worked on
by the administration, and even then it seems to be the lesser ones that do
something. I for myself tried to fight the windmills with forever crimson way,
naively hoping and trying to believe that something would be done. Occasional
promises there, and some futile and useless facelifts there.. it all proved to
be a mirage. Now I'm pretty much fed with this, there's nothing batmud can
offer but chat/link to friends. I continue my playing hobby somewhere else.
(Anarchy Online for the time being.) I don't see any kind of improvement in
near future for batmud. Farewell.

I won't speak from the administration point of view, for I can't, I'll just
speak for myself. You see, every game has to end somewhere. Every hobby has a
"Game Over" sign which you will find sooner or later. The problem is not that
the guild aren't worked on or that there's no new content. The problem is that
the pace of adding new things is not good for you, top end bored highbie for
whom even the toughest monster in the new area is a matter of a few hours
party. I don't think that majority of newbies coming to play this game will
share your opinion of boredness. You should understand as well as I do, that
creation of the new content takes time, sometimes a lot of time. At this
particular moment I, at least, do not see a queue of volunteers to come and
join us in making this game more fun for people who've seen most of it. If
you're so bored - swtich playing, come help us code. You don't have to be a
top-notch skilled coder to contribute. Valuable, well laid-out ideas, good
areas content (descs, storylines, quests, whatnot) everything is more than
welcome.

That's just my 2 cents, please keep in mind, that this doesn't necessarily
reflect the points of view current game administration has.

That requires someone to wiz, or so I understand. Is it possible for someone
to provide significant content _without_ wizzing?

I wouldn\'t mind seeing a, for instance, Sherlock Holmes-based area. (Hey, the
original stories _have_ to be out of copyright by _now_, right?) But if I
designed it, on a (I guess) look-n-feel basis, would existing wizzies be
willing to implement it?

Sherlock Holmes based area on a medieval themed MUD? Gnomelock Holmes of a
kind? :)
Heh, You're right, that would require people to wiz. Or at this particular
moment, I (and I must repeat myself that's not up to me to decide) do not see
another way of contribution.
