For the record, I made the eggs repop on purpose. I wanted to avoid a case
where the fastest players could clean out all the eggs before anyone else had
a chance. Also, since the eggs were hidden in a Gazgo-like fashion (i.e.
oftentimes in rooms nobody goes to) and, if the eggs did not repop, the
"famous" areas would be cleaned out immediately.

What I did not count on was players making scripts that searched everything in
the room the second they entered. I found this dismaying and against the
spirit of the event. Now, I could have done something from appropriate to
purely vindictive (search costs 1ep, search takes 5 seconds, ban players for
robotting) but as it was BatMUD's birthday and supposed to be a fun event, I
chose not to do so. I will, however, keep that in mind next time I try to make
a purely bonus event.

P.S. Regardless about how i feel about the use of triggers/scripts/obnoxiously
excessive command-chains to find the eggs, I do give the top egg-finders props
for creativity. Oh, and five players told me they found stuff they didn't know
about because of the frantic serarching. I thought that was kinda cool too.

Well, I have to grant kudos to Shinarae for the easter egg thing. The concept
at least was a neat idea. Do all events have to be so competitive, though?
Can't there be a few events where we compete against ourselves, and therefore
when we win, someone else doesn't have to lose? I would have preferred to see
an event where rewards given were smaller, yet more widespread. Perhaps one
could win 1 tp for finding 1 egg, 2 tps for finding 5, up to a maximum of 3
tps for finding 10 or so. Geez, even newbies could have enjoyed that.

Most events are competitive. Just about every event, from orc invasion to
Zonni statue, has some kind of reward for beating it. Some are more
competitive than others (snowball and bank robbery more than Sharon and
clones). Some are more cooperative, such as Contraption and Magic-Eater, and
these usually stem from a massive punishment to all.

Now I have been on several easter eggs hunts in real life, and they were all
competitions. There was always a winner. I didn't see a problem with that
either. I did, however put some mild healing into each egg (much like a fungus
slice) when eaten. For a while, I was concerned that someone finding 100+ of
them might use them ato abuse a monster -- guess not.

But before you complain too much about the spirit of competition, I would like
to point out that the 11th place winner, Slobber, had 2 eggs. Two. That's what
you had to beat, people. The suggestion "2 tps for finding up to 5" would not
have mattered. People either _really_ got into the event, or they didn't
bother at all. Even for 1 tp each. I don't know what that says about the
nature of the event, or the nature of the prize, or the nature of the players
on BatMUD.
