Give twomi a special rank ( or something) in recognition of the excellent map
he is maintaining on his site. Without it guiding newbies would be so much
more annoying, and im sure many old player use it as well. It would be a nice
gesture from batmud to thus award his work ( which is really very useful for
the newbies!).

At least Bat could offer homepage space from bats homepage servers.
I doubt there is anyone that disagrees that twomis colored map is better than
the ascii one there.

A demi-god status could also be invented and twomi put in charge (well he is
already doing it) for Bat maps.

A :-D hits you.

Webspace has already been offered and we're discussing
about other possibilities.

The same is also true for other significant webpages
that contribute to the BatMUD community - if you need
a webserver for them, feel free to contact me and we'll
see if we can get something worked out.

Well if this is the case i would only expect Dryad to get the same. Don\'t get
me wrong i really appreciate what these 2 individuals have provided to my
mudding experience but where would it stop.

Well, I think Twomi has done a bit more for the majority of players, most
everyone (even high levellers), use twomi's reinc simulator and map. So I
don't see this problem "where would it stop", probably at twomi :D. Dryad's
stuff is nice for low level nubu's and it's more a collage of other people's
work, twomi did most of his, himself.

Be it a collage of other people's work or not, it requires time and patience
to maintain such a library. I gotta give it to Taylon on this, he's totally
right. Whilst one may argue on the usability, target groups of material
provided and whatnot, the effort should not remain unnoticed.

P.S. This is my own humble opinion and it doesn't necessarily represent the
opinion of Bat's administration.

No it doesn't. A lot of the stuff on dryads site has been exactly the same for
10+ years, the only "maintaining" that must be done is paying the bill to host
it. I'm speaking for the functional parts of course, not the logs/funny blah
humour section. Twomi on the otherhand had to code an interface and run
calculations and etc. Dryad's site is merely a collection of individual pages
with links to them, there's a big difference, and functionality does matter,
not good intentions. You might as well give Ssmud his own name too since he
gives his trigger packs out to everyone which are a far greater help than
Dryad's website. Maybe if the info was accurate and current it'd be a
different story, but most of it is based on 10+ years ago. Twomi updates his
stuff every major tune, so does Ssmud.

Well, Maybe some stuff has been same for 10+ years, but heck, those areas
stayed the same for the same 10+ years. I know, and I've seen Dryad more than
once busy exploring new areas and re-exploring old ones, to check if the map
is up-to-date. Dryad, on the contrary of Twomi (of what I know) is a married
woman, with kids, who has to spend time with family, and knowing her situation
she needs that more than anyone, so her work on the website shouldn't be taken
lightly. But as I said, this is my own opinion.

Dryad's and Twomi's websites have totally different content,
and to some degree even complement each other. Comparing the
two, or the work that has gone into either, is therefor a bit
pointless.

Both websites are valuable to players. We've been talking with
Twomi already about his website (and possible ways of improving
it) and will certainly do it with Dryad too, if she is
interested (though we will not provide more area walkthroughs :)

So it's not a matter of one website over another.

Since when have people in batmud been awarded for overcoming the "adversity"
of having a full real life? This game has never rewarded people who don't play
or do something because they are busy with real life. So because Dryad is
married and has a kid makes her time oh so much more important than Twomi's? I
think that's going a little far. And lots of players with families/wives/kids
play a lot, it's a personal choice, not a requirement. How many people could
do what Twomi has done? Not a lot, it requires coding knowledge. Dryad's site
is basic and could be done by anyone, you're still missing that point. It's
not "how much" time, it's what is presented, just like everything, results get
attention. The number of players who use it, and how often they use it is the
primary factor in understanding what the total value of the contribution is,
compare BatMUD to IspentAlotOfTimeFromMyBusyScheduleButMyMudIsNotReallyInterest
ingSoNoOneComesHereButISpentALotOfTimeSoIShouldBePraisedMUD. And I don't take
the work lightly, I'm putting it in direct comparison to Twomi's.
