Firefox' Post-Conversion traditional news post!
Those of you who have been here long enough will have read 3, 4, or maybe more
of these types of posts, bear with me - but this obviously needs repeating.
I know players enjoy this game and love it dearly, and so do we wizards.
Change is always accompanied by a tremendous amount of growing pains on
BatMUD. In order to grow it is necessary though.
The first conversion, some 15 years ago, you would have thought we killed
Santa, raped your dog, and burned you comic book collection - while stealing
your branded new Sega Genesis.
The only thing that has changed between then, the conversions between, and now
is we would be stealing your Xbox 360, PS3 or Wii, and selling them on eBay
instead of opening donations.
So here is the deal: play nice, point out bugs, make positive suggestions and
feedback, and the Immortals here will do our best to make the appropriate
adjustments where and when (and, of course, IF) necessary. Areas will be
added in as quickly as they can be, new and old. New spells and skills, and
adjustments to existing ones, will be made (or not, as we see fit). Things
well get better, they always do.
Instead of using your energy to moan and groan try actually being helpful.
Consider this when arguing against this change: the first conversion brought
about races, multiple-guilds, 100 levels and the new (now old) world. Can you
imagine if we didn't change back then? People hated it then too. The mud
also bugged a bit for a while, emergency reboots happened, it was bad for a
while. But BatMUD went from 1 'player' race to 20 different races, 19 player
levels to 100 player levels, a few single guilds to 5 guilds with a framework
for many more and combining of guilds. It was a massive fundamental change
that many people worked very hard for and players moaned and groaned just like
now.
Now this is a new bold change, but the future holds amazing options.
Continental events, wars, conquests, world-wide events, and so many things I
cannot even imagine. The system is again seeing a massive fundamental change
(MUCH more so then you know about, believe me!). Try supporting it, give
feedback constructively, and give us your ideas as well - I am sure you have
some cool thoughts on this new world we didn't even think of.
