Just so you know,
I started playing again last summer and then after a lame reinc I
fell out of BatMUD again (I think most people who I began talking to
recently after making a come back might have noticed this). Honestly
I wouldn't be in this second break peroid if the reincing system
was less taxing on money, exp, and time involved. I could care less
either way but, I would imagine there are many people who take gameplay
breaks due to this reinc system we have and never return.
My situation is a common thing here, it shouldn't happen that often

At this point complaining about the reinc system would be
beating a digging up the dead horse to beat it some more. Flaws
are meant to be fixed however and maybe some new eyeballs are needed
to look at this situation.

I don't think that the penalty for reincing should be lowered. That will just
make the reinc-adicts reinc more, and have the min-maxers try everything till
they find the uber-combo of godliness.

But, there have been times where I would have liked to reinc, but felt
constrained by either having too little cash, or having plenty of cash - but
having the max reinc tax and not wanting to take slow regain as a tarm or so.

So, how about:

Having an option during reinc where you can adjust guild level costs against
exp tax.

Example:

I have too little cash to reinc, but would be willing to dump more exp, so i
choose to halve guild costs.

Guild costs = cost / 2

Reinc tax = Normal tax X 2.1

And it could work the other way around.

This way if you are willing to take the penalty in some way, you will be able
to reinc.

If you can't take the penalty, then I guess the best thing would be to plan
better reincs.

I think there's a 'tune' button for that "uber-combo of godliness" so I don't
see the problem :o

You forget one essential thing - reincarnation takes exp AND money out of the
game. For good. So more is better. What's wrong with 'reinc addicts' having
fun? I was one, and I can tell you firsthand that the uber combo of godliness
is unattainable simply because all my exp was in reinc taxes. But I did have
much more fun than now. It's just stupid that people STILL try to find
non-existent justification for reinc constraints. Reincarnation is there for a
reason. If it is meant to be a boring and fun-killing process the way it is
now, let us just switch to just having one background character and be done
with it. It would save time and news space.

There is nothing wrong with reinc-adicts having fun. With what I suggested they
wouldn't have to sell every piece of eq they ever made to be one.

As far as the reinc constraints, they are there to reward people who persevere:
which is a constant theme on this mud... Rep, Merchanting, Alchemy, Quests,
Rebirth, 12-hour eq.... If people don't like that theme, I suggest
Premature-Ejaculation Mud (hereby know as PEMUD)as a better place to play.

With the reward perseverance as the reason, one way to make the mud more fun
for reinc addicts would be make it easier for them to reinc, but still have a
penalty thus rewarding the people who don't reinc all the time.

As everyone is latching on to the 'uber combo of godliness' phrase, the way to
get it is... up, down, left, right, a, b, up+b, start+select

Always when reincs are discussed people mention "reinc addiction" as if it
were some kind of disease. A disease that somehow would excuse the player from
paying the costs. Like invalids, pregnant women and children don't have to pay
the full cost for riding the bus.
Sorry, being a reinc-addict isn't some blue wheelchair sign you can flash
around to get sympathy from me at least. If you can't afford it - don't reinc.

Just my 1 cent.

Well thats just silly. Do you want this game to be fun or not? For most of us,
fun means trying new things instead of just doing the same thing over and over
and over. A lot of work went into making all the different guilds and the
styles of play associated with them, and it doesn't make sense to turn your
nose up on people who would like to try them all.

I'm nnot asking for any favors (although the reinc system has changed dozens
of times in the past, there is no reason to assume the current system is
perfectly ideal), but I don't think it is good policy to look down on reincing
as somehow bad or wrong.

We are all basically addicts here. Can't we all just get along?

if you haven't noticed, the admin of this game are making it slower to play,
harder to get around, more costly to change play style, eq prices as low as
possible, your eq turn to garbage as soon as possible, money harder to come by
...did i forget anything? quit whining and play the game you enjoy so much!

Hey! Isn't this _exactly_ why this is the bestest game ever?
Now, if we were to have reincs all free and instant, wouldn't
we be like all those play-and-discard games out there?
