Hello Everyone,

I thought I would share this story with the BatMUD community because
you're all a part of my life in some cyber-bonding way (especially
growing up when I used to play every day/night/holidays).

Well the crass, profane and mostly obnoxious Blackstar you all know is
getting married this Friday to another BatMUD player Azalea.

By the time I entered college seven years ago I was playing BatMUD constantly
and this addiction continued onto my weekends when I should have been
out at a college bar drinking and meeting women. It turns out my hermit
habits helped me find my future wife.

Despite my recluse behavior I managed to meet a girl through a friend who
lived on the seventh floor of our dormitory. She was hot, but exp was hotter.
I spent the majority of my time pkilling, spamming and living life on the
thin threads of being removed by an arch every day I logged in. Back in
those days no one knew what "flower" meant and death was behind every corner.
It was a barbarically fun time.

Anyway, the seventh floor girl was on a mission: Who was this mysterious man?
In a very cunning and subtle attack she encouraged me to help her learn
how to play BatMUD, she created her first character Kalena later re-rolling
to Azalea

She was pretty much helpless and seemed to have a severe learning disability.
She would forget how to check her inventory, move her character and sell
things to the shop- all the while she was playing dumb using any excuse
she could to come down to my room for some tutoring. Her efforts paid off
and by November of my freshman year we were an item.

During our college days we would play BatMUD side by side laughing,
brewing up crazy reinc ideas and simply having fun. After all we were poor
gamers who needed something to play wherever on campus we could find
an internet connection. We escaped into BatMUD.

Years passed and we soon "moved on" to WoW (I call this the dark ages of
my gaming career), we also graduated got jobs and she moved out to Long Island
for me and we continued making a life together.


The wedding is this Friday, on the beach.
