I understand the necessity of not totally outlawing castle robbing. That
being said, there are two things I think that should be done to modify castle
robbing (small things). Basically two groups have been robbed in the past 3
years ( i have paid a lot of attention to this subject btw). The first group
is noobs who dont really have the resources to put into tons of guards.
Typically noobs are putting most of their resources in buying basic eq to
upgrade their char. Decent guard costs like 1.5m and that is just too
expensive for most noobs.

The second group are people who should know better but just arent smart.
These are relatively higher level players who either have not set their guards
up properly, have not spent enough money relative to their power level on
guards, or have friends who are shady and end up robbing them. I suggest a
"castle protection" guide be written as a permanent required reading helpfile
for noobs in rules 101. This guide could be written be some very knowledgable
mortal or wizard (that crappy code slave freld comes to mind :D!!!)

I have sympathy for the first group (noobs) as you are right that they
cannot on their own afford expensive guards. The way around that is to
team up with _reliable_ players - there are several pcities where the
owners (who aren't out to screw the player) rent out rooms that are
guarded for a reasonable price and assuming the owners aren't jerks, we
haven't really heard that such pcities would be frequently raided.

I have very little sympathy for the second group tho and doubt any guides
would help people from trusting the wrong people or setting guards to block
the wrong way. But by all means, if you guys produce a guide we will be
happy to publish it.

There is actually one thing I would like to add to the subject.
There are several (*cough cough*) rumours about a guild that has very
effective area spell that targets a target race.
There is also a rumour that the spell happens to be very fast to cast.
There is also the fact, that all the guards have same race and motivated
members of this one rumoured guild could easily suicide-run quite a bunch of
guards down rather quickly.

So would it be too much to ask, if we could either choose the race of our
guards?

OR (probably too much to ask)
Someone to re-evaluate this one rumoured guild. Yes, I believe the Aelena 1rnd
spells got tuned for a reason too.

This has been fixed - the spell in question (and also another one) now do
considerably less damage to guards. Credits to Shinarae for doing the fix.
