There will be a MUD-wide event this Halloween. Event starts at the noon reboot
on Sunday the 31st, and lasts until the next reboot.
I don't want to give away too much of the surprise, but the idea is to have a
little something for everyone. Features include:
-- players earn points for participating in the event in various ways. Some
ways to participate (i.e. killing a 1.3M eq boss) will be worth more than
others (nine-man party kill of a wounded chipmunk). Points can be saved up for
prizes, such as chocolate that heals you when eaten.
-- there will also be items found that can be traded. Save up enough items to
add permanent stat bonuses to your already-existing eq. Hire other players to
hunt them down for you, or sell them for cash and favors.
-- event is much kinder on newbies, much harsher on highbies, and does not
interfere with any pcity, area, or guild.
-- the event does not "end". Participation is possible in every single second
of the 24-hour uptime.
-- you get bonus points for killing yourself. Kind of. You'll figure it out.
Have fun!

It all looks nice and interesting. The "add permanent stats to existing items"
sounds a bit scary to me though. Can you make your +10 stat items into +11
stats? Even if its max +1 to stat per an item, it might end up being +20 stat
to an eqset. Either the stats will be so hard to get that only the ubesrestest
players get them, or they will be so easy to get that anyone can get them, and
ubertestest players can get the said +20 stats per eqset...
On behalf of a worried subset of the players, has this plan gotten some sort
of peer review and careful consideration on game itemisation balance?
