Hello!
I'm not aiming in starting a long term spam campaign on the subject but
I'd like to make a friendly reminder now. One of the cheapest ways to
market this game to new players is through voting on the
MudConnector's site and also on the Top Mud Sites. You can see the
easy links for these sites with command 'voteurl' and you can
use a command that Tarken made for us (help voted) to keep it
reminding you when you can vote again.
The reason why I'm posting this reminder is that we're 85th
on Mudconnector and I couldn't see us on the first page of
Top Mud Sites either. During the past months the amount
of voters has plummeted and it seems like you can count the
voters with one hand's fingers nowadays. Naturally thanks
are in order for those who still continue to vote. If you
still consider this game worth playing, try to find some time
to vote since it won't take very long. While it is the
easiest way of saying thanks to those who voluntarily
spend building the game, having more players has added
benefits to players as well (easier to get merchant
services/parties/trade equipment/you name it).
Thanks,
Can you guys just approve cheating the vote system like other muds do? We have
some really good people here who can scam the system, some already have
developed ways but it was told not to do that.
No, that would not be in our best interest. For years we did fine and took
leads within the top spots on a regular basis. To risk getting banned
altogether would not be worth it. If we get banned, it'll be extremely
difficult to ever get back on and seeing as it's really one of our biggest
places to 'advertise', per se, it'd be a death warrant. Not to mention, we're
better than that. If we're not getting members, I'd rather die out maintaining
dignity and high moral fiber than saying we cheated and lost. Yet, we're not
dying out. We're strong. We have an impressive playerbase of a dedicated
community of players and developers alike, whom with just a little bit of
daily effort we can raise to the top of the charts again and stay there. I
can't emphasize enough the importance of remaining at the top of the ranks
within the various MUD communities so that we can be seen by those who know
what we are all about on a text-based MUD. Granted, I'm equally as guilty of
not putting in that extra effort I used to for voting due to the ramping up of
some RL drama and my studies, but I'm trying to get back into it and I hope
that a few of you can step up to the plate and get people excited about
voting. Hell, write some nice reviews too, tell people what we're like and how
much fine you have here. Anyways, I coded that 'voted' command a while back
(please read the help or ask around before using) and there are a few other
reminders in-game out there. If you need anything else or have any ideas, talk
to us your developers...we are here for you, we are here for Bat.
Cheers,
