I got it all wrong the yesterday night. I did the single most stupid deed of
my whole career in BatMUD. Stupidity, role playing and jackassness.

I start from the beginning... with romans, lances and stuff. I created my
first character the year of 2000 (or 1997 actually, but that's another story).
BatMUD raised me up from deep depression and probably saved my life at that
time. Helping out other newbies just gave me the sense of purpose of living
when there was none in the real life.

The people I admire most in BatMUD are all role players, but BatMUD is not a
role playing game in its strictest sense. ...I guess that it is a good thing
in the end.

I want to quote a discussion from the newbie channel years ago, something that
I remember clearly, but I can't find in my logs anymore. Something about
people I personally don't know, but also that seems fitting here:

The order of our Sisterhood was attacked in the middle of a hour of prayer and
I got carried away and overreacted.

I perhaps, fucked up an equipment party by repeatedly casting celestial haven
at Gatekeeper of my Guild to repel the attackers. I role played a nun of
wisdom when there was none.

Sensible people of my own society, saato+ told me I'm over the top. It took me
a night to see they are right. Had I been a real roleplayer I would have
gathered a party to attack the infidels directly... or at least warn them
about what I am going to do.

Friendly people role play all they want, but they don't fuck up each others
parties.

Sorry about that Merc, Kerad, Peelo, Sarmangoth, Xorthoth, Durtle, and Rurack
(and perhaps others).
