Malicat wanted some ideas, these are what i have...

1) make guilds harder (like for example nuns= you need to do tasks, play the
guild and do guild-things before you can earn power of the guild). Bards,
mages, nuns, runemages and so on have some sort challenge on them, so you cant
just reinc into guild and flex out with your exp, newbie/midbie or higbie, it
just doesnt matter, what matters is how you play the guild, spend time, effort
and learn the guild and you will earn all what that guild has to offer (prolly
might keep people more interested in staying reincs...).

2) tweak rebirth to be bit more special (older players seems to appreciate
more special things than exp or money) if it should be option when you see the
game over-flag or players should be tempted to rebirth like Duke believes.

3) nowadays newbies start is bit too easy, and if the point is to get rid of
all bigger and older players, whose here to teach newbies? Some of us remeber
how hard it was to make those first 5-10M\'s. Now you can make it in couple
days. If its easy, it doesnt teach you anything. And considering tunes,
newbies get exp easily but eq-part is sort of fucked (including sales
channel...)

4) Someone make Duke mortal and let him enjoy his tunes for while, and then
reconsider about what of those are needed and which are just stupid.

Nothing more this time.

I'd like to see these kind of additions and tunes more.
More tweaking and stuff to do in the guild -> the better.

Barbi guild is a good one too with two weekly guild related events, barbi
arena, some very nice quests and good reputation system that gives you good
benefits(plus a decent weapon) if you stay in the guild.

Bards however are not that nice, after you get to be lvl 30 bard there isn't
much guild related you can do and the reputation system just doesn't seem to
offer any major benefits.

Naturally not all guilds should have reputation systems but I'd still like to
see more of them.
maybe for KNIGHTS *WINK* *WINK* :)

This is, I must say, very much untrue. You confuse newbies with new characters
of people who have played before, or perhaps someone who hasn't played before
but has a bunch of friends to help them out. It is unfortunate that currently
most of our "newbies" are of such origin, but definitely not a reason to make
it more difficult to them - quite the opposite. We wish to attract newcomers
who are completely new to BatMUD, and by doing what you suggest we'd end up
losing the rest of them as well.

The world has moved on, as Stephen King is fond of saying, in our case it
means that the good old 'fuck you and play'-attitude towards new players is
just not going to cut it. If we wish to get any. And I do :-)

To summarize; It sure as hell is not easy to make 5-10 megs of exp in "couple
of days" if you're new to BatMUD. It is not even easy to make it to level 2.
This I know for a fact and strive to do something about it.

Rock on,

I really didnt suggest anything to be done for newbies, and true most of
newbies i have seen lately have been someones friends or old-new ones. Well if
newbiehood should be more easier still, then maybe Damogran could give away
some basic newbie armour stuff, not just crap people have donated, but real
1-29 lvl suitable armours and weapons, or even make that \"start-up\"-pack bit
better like adding weapons and basic armours to it (as far as i recall you dont
start up with much else than those healing potions, sorry if i am wrong).

And also completing 1-29lvl lq could award exp (afaik award is just money now
+ explore exp naturally..) too. Maybe agro outerworld mobs could dodge people
under lvl 30 or 20 atleast so they might have encourage to go explore new
areas...dunno, prolly someone else knows whats is best for real newbies. And
reviving sales channel prolly helps newbies too...

Wont say more about easy start now then...
