Jesus duke, youve met glaurung in real life and theres any question about him
being a bastard!!!??? Come on!! :DDD PS i loved gores post made a lot of
sense, and i think the two things that will do a LOT to help this mud is 1)
assigning sometime in the future an american arch/player/friend whatever to
actively promote batmud in the online gaming community here. 2) more
innovative strategies about eq policing including all the things that gore
said but also maybe making more "lowbie" kinda eq stuff like hunters rings,
blue gloves, that kinda thing. Seems every wizard has to make the "BEST
SUFFELI FOR THAT SLOT" eq or turbo mob. Sure its fun to see your mob shout
but i think there needs to be more "midlvl" crap that highbies can sell and
that will bridge the gap in the midbie eq power range. Right now all that
midbie crap sells for jack and shit, because theres so much good stuff around.
Also i think more coders need to concentrate on quests/eq for us soloers out
there. I know this is supposedly a "party" mud but i dont think it needs to
be and theres a lot of regular soloers...more damien style quests and areas
would be really appreciated i think..anyways..too bed...keep up the good work
and posting..

amen about the soloing comment. I think i've spent 1 of my 20 days partying,
not out of choice, but because I work on call and rarely have the security of
knowing for sure that I can spend my time in a party.
The existing rules for eq are based on parties. True, a player of Glaurung's
power can solo some of the easier eq monsters, but that's about it. He
probably wouldn't want the eq for anything other than sacrificing or sales
channel either.
This is because almost every area in the game is party friendly. Sine, for
example, Smokey the Bear can be reached by a party of 9, we more or less have
to assume he will be. That's why Onog sucks, unless you're level 20 or so.
THe alternative is to have areas specifically made for solo work. Such are
very, very rare. Sewer ring is just about it. And the sewer ring is much
better than eq a party of the same level would get from the same amount of
effort. So why don't we make more solo areas? Well...we could, but the idea is
problematic. If I were to, say, make a copy of newbie mines that allowed only
one player at a time, but had usable lvl 20-30 eq in it, it would have a
constant line to get in. FIghts might start to get in next. It would feel
like a bit of a waste in a MUD (what does the M stand for?) to make an area
only one person could use.
Now, maybe later, someone will make a copy of newbie mines with eq for solo in
such a way that more than one person could use it at a time -- multiple
copies, for example. I didn't say that, I deny everything, who are you people?
