Since so many people (more than one) agreed with this idea:
I propose a further negative measure in addition to any whim punishment to
anyone caught robotting.
- Each incident where a player is caught robotting would result in an increase
to the players banecount.
The banecount starts at 0.
Incident 1: Banecount goes to 1 (0+1)
Incident 2: Banecount goes to 3 (1+2)
Incident 3: Banecount goes to 6 (3+3)
etc etc
Upon the wizard starting this penalty (which I think should be mandatory for
all robot infractions)
a random bane would be assigned to the player. If this bane is too much for
the player, he can reinc
and will be assigned another random (but possibly not the exact same?)
bane(s).
This punishment would not clear unless a certain set of criteria (same for all
players)
is achieved by the player and a wizard agrees that the set of actions is
complete.
I believe that this potentially permanent penalty would increase the awareness
of the infraction and it's
severity.
I don't believe it would be fair to make this a retroactive punishment, but as
it is, I think robotting
to be the most severe infraction in BatMUD and should be punished as such.
As a side note: A standard punishment system (wiz zap / level zap / bane zap?)
may actually clear up any confusion in regards to the severity of specific
rule infractions.

Just a thought
