After a long and unannounced hiatus, chest damage has been reintroduced into
the mud.

Those of you who insisted on the highest quality in save containers ("huge
diamond bank safe reinforced with archwizium [made by: L33tr0x0r]") will note
that their investment has paid off. Such items will last for literally years
upon years of constant abuse before needing any repairs. On the other hand,
those of you who were thrifty and purchased bargain save containers ("tiny
paper sack reinforced with holes [made by: Utternoob]") can use the savings to
purchase (hopefully inexpensive) repairs, or save up towards a "real" chest.
Either way, you'll want to do something within a few months.

It is worth noting that if a chest falls apart completely (yes, this can
happen through consistant neglect) it will pop its items onto the floor first.
Naturally, if it were my eq, I'd pick it up, but you do what seems right at
the time. Chests will not take damage if they have been left untouched for 24
hours, so those players taking a break from BatMUD don't need to schedule
repair trips from merchants (unless your friends open your chests and borrow
your eq, otherwise known as 'being a cheap bastard').

The actual tune will take place in 2 weeks from this post, however, the
warning messages from chests in bad shape will start at reboot. Take this
opportunity to have your chests updated or repaired before the rush starts.
