Because at least one person has not seemed to get the message, this goes out
to everyone.

The file "help multiple characters" is very specific. Line one says what
you're not allowed to do, line 2 says what will happen when you do it. There
are capital letters and everything. It's quite speciric. What you will _not_
find in that file is a clause such as "if other players get away with it, so
will you" or "sometimes we'll only remove one of the offenders" or my personal
favorite "I wasn't hurting anyone". In particular, I'd like to address that
last one.

-- There are plenty of good ways to switch what your character is on this MUD.
Reincing is by far the big one. That means there is no good reason to have two
different characters of different types, because you want to get more out of
the game faster. That is giving you an advantage over the players doing things
honestly, and in turn, hurts them.
-- Changing names is possible. Rebirth is costly, true, but if you are that
concerned about a name change, you can always wait till your first character
completes suiciding and then start a second. I don't recommend that, because
it's awkward and inconvenient, but it's exactly what I did with my first
character. Heck, you can even have a friend hold your stuff for you during
this process, AS LONG AS they are not transferring between you and your
secondary while both are active players (that's called "aiding and abetting" I
think).
Having two characters with two different names, for whatever reason, allows
you go get out of trouble you got yourself into by simply ditching the one and
playing the other. This is unfair to players who play honestly and accept the
consequences of their own actions and the penalties they accrue.
-- "No multiple characters" is BatMUD's first and, in my opinion, biggest
rule. Breaking it because you feel like it is a slap in the face tho the
administration here. Now I don't mean myself in this case, even though I
technically qualify. I mean the Archers who have spent a full generation of
their lives creating this place from the ground up and turning it into the
full and rich society it has become. I will not, let me say that again, I will
NOT have someone disrespect them so blatantly and think they can talk their
way out of it with "I read the helpfile and I did it anyhow".

P.S. Also, saying something along the lines of "oh that's not my secondary, I
gave that character to my sister" is not helping your cause any.
