Arelium was not, in fact, burned to the ground during the Invasion. As a
thank-you to all those who participated, the Mayor of the city has decreed the
following:
-- all Arelium shops that allow any form of bargaining should give special
pricing rules for the next few months. Items will be bought from these shops
at lower prices, and selling "too many" items of the same type to the same
store will have the effect lowered. This benefit goes to everyone.
-- The "pay date" for player cities has been moved from Jan 1st to Dec 1st.
Taxes do not need to be paid for the month of December anymore. This benefit
also applies to all.
-- Because the reconstruction required so little of Arelium's time, supplies,
and money, they have expended their efforts elsewhere. Three fortresses are
under construction on the west, east, and south coasts of Furnachia. While
incomplete, they offer basic lodging services, as well as storage for mounts
and ships, for anyone who "significantly" aided the city. As time passes and
the forts become more and more complete, more services will become available.
As for what the Mayor means by "significantly" that's hard to tell, but at the
very least, if you got your name on any piece of eq (including those given by
Sharon and Wobble, rest his soul), then you qualify.

In addition, the real reason I promised "no desters" over and over, was
because I was interested in what eq players were using, from the lowest
newbies to the most legendary of highbies. Rules about future eq are now under
review and might change, most notably the eq from the most powerful and
dangerous monsters in BatMUD (Burgle and Asmo are good examples). If anything
is to be changed, you'll know, however, items already made are in no danger
due to these possible rules changes, only ones made in the future.

I realize that the event had some "minor" lag issues early on, but from the
overall response, I'd say that, if these issues can be carefully resolved,
events of this type might happen in the future.
