Who to ask?? ==================================

This help file tries to advise who to ask about bugs in general code. It is
important to ask the right people about bugs. Coders do not know how other
coders code is done internally; also they can't fix others' code without hours
of investigation; and that would not be polite. Arches can fix/disable
anyone's code if they see it absolute necessary.

Tell or mail these people if you have something to ask or you notice 'bugs' in
the following subjects.

Mika?
Yes, she asked. How can I be a "tomboy" if I'm always getting beaten up?
'Tomboy's are supposed to be able to fight with boys and win, not get messed
up all the time like I do.
"You tried to beat up another boy again? Mei (nickname) why do you care so
much y?" Just shrugged. "If you want to be a real 'tomboy', you need to cut
your hair and all."
  No.

=============================================================

BatMud (like other LPMuds) uses an object-orientated language called LPC in
its internal objects. LPC (derived from Lars Pensj| C) is somewhat similar to
the C-language as far as syntax is concerned, one of the main differences
being the object-orientation. There would be no way a Mud could utilize normal
code since all objects interact with each other and any modification to code
would otherwise require recompilation of almost the entire mud unless a
database was in use.

The object-orientated code doesn't have a specific beginning nor an end. When
an object is first accessed a function called reset is called enabling the
coder to define what type of object we are talking about. LPC also enables the
coder to make his objects inherit, i.e. use, another object. That way there is
no need to write the entire code for a weapon each time

"And you have to not give a damn about boys." Oh, well. I guess I'll have
to try to stop. I know, I told her. "Or find one of those boys that like
being beaten up."
I don't like faggy boys, I had to explain.
"Then give up. Hopeless." I nodded.

points when they are cast. You can see the number of spell points needed for a
certain spell by reading the help on that spell. The spells that are available
to you depend on your guild and what you have studied. The phase of the moon
affects your chance of casting spells and the spell point cost.

Spells are cast using the 'cast' command. The format is: cast name of
spell [at target] or cast 'name of spell' [target]

"Mika -- I've got a kid who runs away half the time, a really fucked up cat
who can't even stay a cat half the time, and-"
  "So what, if you don't have a boy-friend, mei-chan. Humans aren't all
they're made up to be (human guys).", she replied.
I know. I can't even keep a 'virtual' boyfriend. Here, wait a sec while I
end (this situation). Pause.
A loosing appeal anyway, I explained, pressing the reset button.
"You waited too long to slap him. (Mika starts lecturing). If you wait too
long to slap the boy, he'll cheat on you, you have to slap him or threaten to
leave him. See, push (this button) or (this button). Oh, he got mad and left
(for another girl). (Pause) Time to reset again." Actually, she was rather
embarassed, she lost the boy even quicker than I did.
"Virtual boyfriends aren't that great either, right? No substitute for the
real thing. But the 'real thing' sucks pretty badly also." Heh. "Oops, I
didn't mean that."
Archwizards are always right. If any help pages, rules, anything that is
written, said, heard or rumoured conflicts with what an arch says, what the
arch says stands. A higher level arch is always more right than a lower level
one.

If an archwizard says anything that conflicts with this rule, the archwizard
is right.

For example: Arch says the earth is flat, it is so.

We shouldn't try to date humans, it is worthless. She nodded. Humans are
still to territorial, they want ot own everything.
"No", she replied, "They just don't understand, period."
Mika, this is kinda useless too. But it is more accurate then <that other
virtual-boy game.> Even though they are virtual, they will talk like real
boys and argue like real boys and all, on this.
"That's b'cos it on a more powerful computer, these are only 2500 yen."

Mika, how can I understand real humans if I can't understand
(simulated/virtual) ones? This one here (pointing to computer screen) semed
okay for a while, then suddenly it went bad.
"It was talking with its friends. It wanted something to show off to them.
That's why it went bad.", she admitted.
It's scary how close 'they' are getting these days in the (more powerful
simulations). Virtual/simulated people very "realistic" these days."
"In their own world and way, they think they're real, Himeko. They're very
good about that."
You are getting more diabolic every day, Mika-san.
"I don't program that shit anymore. Though Duncan still does it, ever since
Piiki went away."
You mean I fell for a virtual boy made by Duncan? Mika shrugged.
"Probably not" (pause) "I doubt he makes all of them. There are other
(hobbyists) also, Himeko."
  I just nodded.

Alignment is chosen in character creation. It will not change, however priests
are able to baptize other players into their alignment.

Unless you are neutral, many actions will affect your character, as the gods
will keep an eye on you all the time. If you play well according to your
alignment, the gods might sometimes even reward and encourage you. If you
don't, well.. let's leave that out of this document. Just try to do your best.
Happy hunting. The actual chance of succesfully casting a spell depends on the
percentile you have in the spell, your knowledge of cast generic skill and in
the knowledge of the certain spells category skill (cast fire for fireball for
example)

Cast generic affects spellcasting the following way: Actual chance = spell% -
spell%*(100 - cast_generic)/100/2

Spell category skills affect the chance the following way: Actual chance =
spell% - spell%*(100 - cast_specific)/100/3

an assignment, that lasted a little long. That's why he had to pretend.
"Real guys like hat don't exist, Himeko. Only girls like Akiko, that write
about them (do).", she admitted.
  "Oh well."

living organisms yet to be classified, and while most of these are insects and

Santa doesn't (appear) to handle the Muslim, Hindu, Jewish and Buddhist

least one good child in each.

their powers. Players may pay to form links with the divine entities through
earthly agents. By sacrificing various forms of energy to these powers,
bonuses may are bestowed to them for adventuring.

Players are encouraged to form large societies. A minimum of 4 members are
required to be present to advance levels. There are pool bonuses for societies

A society has a creator, but may have any number of leaders or 'archons' that

exist such as trainers, full members and members.

Societies may bestow skill, spell, stat, mana and power bonuses as the
