Books

Author: Law
Date:Sep 9 1998

Law creeped silently through the bushes. He was tracking a rare species of
creature. Not to kill it though but to preserve it. If the creature was male
then the Guild masters would introduce it to the female they have in a
secluded garden behind the Ranger guild. Law sensed that his quarry was near
when he heard their distinctive call. His prey wasn't especialy smart or cute
or even tasty. But the species blood was known to have magical properties when
processed by alchemists. The solution caused metal to harden and and to glow
with a faint light. Soon all of the species had been captured and killed.
Except for a few that by chance had escaped into the forests surrounding their
territory. Law was in a tree now in that same forest looking at the oblivious
creature. It was small, almost humanoid. it's blue skin and large eyes and
short stubby tail made it look almost like a smurf. But there the similarities
ended. Smurfs were generally smart and could work some tools. They could speak
passable english too. The creature Law was tracking though was different. They
were very slow-witted. The most advanced tools they used were rocks and
sharpened sticks. And they almost never could speak english. The creature
below Law seemed to strengthen this fact when he let out a characteristic
call...." Wibble Wibble Wibble!" These creatures were named for that same
call. Quickly while the Wibble was distracted looking at it's reflection in a
puddle, Law prepared a net. Just before he dropped it though a roar startled
him and the wibble below. In a rush of mucle an Ogre crashed through the
foliage and scooped up the bewildered wibble. With a hoot of delight the ogre
threw the wibble in a sack attached to his belt and ran back into the bush. It
should be noted that not all races found wibble flesh repulsive. Ogres were
known for being a scourge to many a wibble village before the humans came.
Checking that his axes were ready, Law jumped the twenty feet down to the
ground and broke into a run. that wibble had to be rescued or the race was
doomed. Thanks to his Wolfman ge neology Law quickly caught up to the ogre who
was now struggling up a steep hill, likely to it's cave where it could chew
wibble bones in peace.
