This is the story of Viko Viikatemies the merry hobbit. It all happened few
years ago, during the spring of the year 634. Weather was already warm at that
time of spring. Birds sang, grass was green and leaves of oaks and birches had
just started to come out. ;That day I was walking back to my home in
Shangrila. I was walking in my thoughts on the road and suddenly I heard
someone singing happily 'Trallallaa, trallalei!' Smile came to my face while
listening that merry tune, so I stopped and decided to wait that 'Trallallaa,
trallalei!' someone. I had just been settling a difficult situation near the
City of Shadowkeep in the place called Smurville, and needed someone or
something to cheer me up.;Hobbit! I cursed when I saw who was coming from the
bend of the road but something made me stay. (Usually every smart adventurer
tries to avoid hobbits because they tend to loan things without asking and not
giving them back while talking stupid things all the time and being really
just a pain in the ass.) This hobbit looked like hobbits do - small and
dumpling, wearing funny hat on his head and carrying lots of little bags. He
noticed me soon standing by the road and happily and fearlessly came to me
saying 'HeiHoi fellow adventurer!' This was when I saw his eyes, filled with
disturbing fear and rage. This was when I met Viko Viikatemies the merry
hobbit.;Viko was silly but obviously not evil, very happy and merry like
hobbits are, apart from his eyes. I got interested in him and his story and
tried to chat with him to find out what was wrong with this little guy. Time
passed, we talked on a little campfire We talked about this and that, but most
of the time Viko told me stories about beautiful Hobbit girls with names like
Ilona, Oona, Saara, Saana, Anu and Kirsi. I must admit that he was a real
player, or at least very good liar.;All that time Viko was someway restless
and obviously in fear, so I decided to ask what he was worrying about. First
he was startled and ran away, but after a while he came back to fireplace,
weeping and begging me to help him. I decided to listen, as little hobbit told
me his weird story.;As we all know, hobbits are curious people, and Viko was
very curious even for a hobbit. He had heard some evil priests in Batcity
talking about vicious spider cult. This evil cult served spiders and
especially their wicked spider demon queen. The demon queen would grant her
worshippers with unearthly powers, making them stronger and more agile. And
Viko wanted to gain more power (of course, since he's hobbit) to attain
requited love from hobbit lady Ilona in whom he was deeply in love.;Lovefool
Viko started to search for clues about spider cult. It was not so hard for a
clever hobbit to find the location of this wicked cult's temple, and
eventually he found a secret entrance to maze, behind which there was temple
of the Spider cult. Through nasty spiders with poisonous fangs and smell of
rotten corpses he found his way to temple itself. He spent a long time in
temple, hiding behind huge spider demon statue. There Viko the fearless hobbit
learned the secrets of spider cult, or so he thought;;After Viko had seen
enough he decided to flee from spider temple. Bloodthirsty spiders were after
him, but by using his his hobbity stealth and senses he managed his way back
to the Batcity. There he headed to northeastern part of the city, where Ilona
was working in orphanage. When he arrived, he casted spider demon conjuration
at himself, like he had seen cultist doing in the wicked spider temple.;Viko
felt unbelievable rush in his veins. He noticed his strength and stamina
considerably increased. Not only that, but he also felt wiser too in his tiny
hobbit brains. Mad of love and joy Viko ran to orphanage to tell Ilona about
his love and unbelievable powers. And then something went wrong. Something
went really, really wrong.;;Viko woke up in orphanage totally covered in
blood, holding his bloody daggers in his bloody little hands. He remembered
nothing but the name "Vikodemonus". The massacre in orphanage was cruel and
total - even the small kittens were brutally slaughtered. Ilona had been
literally chopped to pieces, and so was the nun who ran the orphanage. Somehow
Viko knew that under that wicked spider spell he had been the Vikodemonus who
slaughtered all the orphans. Shocked and stunned, Viko ran and ran away from
Batcity avoiding gateguards. Finally, somewhere near Shadowkeep he stopped and
washed the dried blood away from his body and clothes. While crying, naked and
dripping cold water Viko realized that the spider demon would not leave him
while he was still alive.;;Soon after that Viko met me on that road. Viko was
singing merrily because he knew what had to be done. He had the deepest
remorse in everything he had done and he knew that only way to destroy this
Vikodemonus flowing through his veins was to die. To die by the sword of
someone other, to be exact, since if one commits suicide, one cannot
reincarnate back to life. Weeping he asked me to be his liberator.;;As a
supreme shadow sabrist and humble professional bard I understood that the best
way to finish this sad set of events was to have duel with Viko. I suggested
this to him, and bravely he accepted my proposal. The duel was short but
honorable. Viko's daggers were no match against my deadly sabres and masterful
fencing skills. Viko Viikatemies was no longer, yet in my heart he still
exists, singing happily 'Trallallaa, trallalei!' and thus bringing strength to
me when I am in fear.
