Two new passive skills have been added to the archers guild at reboot: offhand
shot, and braced shot.
You will be able to fire certain weapons in your offhand, but normally, there
will be a _dramatic_ penalty in both accuracy and crit chance. The skill
'negate offhand penalty' lowers this a little, and the skill 'offhand shot'
reduces it by a lot. The two skills stack.
If you are using both a shield and a crossbow, the skill 'braced shot' will
reduce the penalty by a large amount. Only braced shots can have the penalty
reduced so far, that it actually vanishes entirely. Even masters of other
skills can only reduce the penalty, not remove it.
It should be noted that the 'offhand shot' skill is very expensive for a
reason. Similar to guided strike, firing a bow/sling/crossbow can do higher
damage than many attack skills, but bows/slings/crossbows do lower melee
damage. Firing offhand lets you increase your damage (or defense, with a
shield) and that help will come at a high XP price.
Firing in your main hand should be unaffected by these new skills. It should
also be noted that offhand/brace shots should be allowed with all existing
archer skills -- they are mastery/passive skills, and you don't use them by
themselves.
These sound very interesting because they increase the options different
archers can take! And Batmud is all about the wealth of options.
