This fierce tactic allows an animist to strike a weak spot on the enemy,
causing the creature's soul to shatter. These fragments of the soul are
considerably weaker than the original creature, and vanquishing them causes
great pain to the original. You can't kill an opponent by splitting his soul
into small pieces, but you surely can make him weaker this way. Only certain
creatures are suspectible to this attack. You need to be wielding a long blade
or a bludgeon, or have a free hand and skill in martial arts. Skill in slash,
pound or iron palm helps you hit accurately.
Having your soul fragments destroyed is painful, and often causes great
confusion in the target. Soul and body are connected, and broken soul can mean
hard time fixing or regenerating the broken body. It is also easier to get
confused in battle when your soul is damaged. Soul is a marvellous thing,
though - it can heal over time.
