The acid shield is a fizzing paper-thin layer of a powerful chemical that
hovers just off of the subject's body. When this chemical touches acid or
other corrossive objects, the danger is reduced as the object and the shield
react with each other, diluting or possibly eliminating the acid before it
contacts the protected individual.
