The secret of the psychic phalanx had been thought lost for eons, but has recently been revealed to the mortal realm once again. It is a trick of the mind, as the target's brain waves are given a barely noticable telepathic link to every other living creature out to the horizon. When the affected creature is struck by a spell or other affect that could damage his mind, some of the damage is split amongst these links. The victim, therefore, escapes partially or totally unharmed, while the links divide the remaining damage over so many creatures that they feel nothing at all.
