Apparently I was negligent in getting my Friday's blog entry due to my anxiety in hurrying out the door and home before the worst of the snow storm would hit. We ended up with a couple of inches of snow from a storm that was predicted to stay south of here. Oh well, just goes to show that even the best computer models still aren't accurate enough when it comes to storm tracks. Oh well, it wasn't a major storm unless you happen to live in the Deep South, and then this would have been a "shutdown your state for 2 days" type of storm. I travelled back to the farm on Saturday in the morning in dense fog. Helped Dad move the display cases and furniture back into their original positions (mostly) to the best of our memories. Sat. evening church and then the parental modules and I went down to Farley to attend a dirt track racers dinner and awards banquet. Unfortunately we had to leave after the meal due to Mom having to be up for work on Sun. by 5 am. So we missed my brother receiving his plaque for his racing efforts from last season. Sunday was overcast and cool due to all of the snow on the ground. I spent most of the morning and part of the afternoon out splitting firewood. I'm loving the adaptation Dad had done to the splitter to get the splitting beam to sit about stomach level. Before, the beam was about knee-high, and we were constantly getting lower back aches from having to stand bent over while working. Now, I get to stand straight most of the time which moves the work from my lower back to more into the middle of the back and shoulders. An AWESOME improvement!!! The only downside is that chucking the firewood is now an overhand or sidearm throw instead of a simple underhand toss. I'm feeling it today in my forearms from all of the wood slinging. A few more weekends like the one I had and I'll have the blocked pile split for drying. I may have to drag up another set of logs for blocking and splitting as I fear I might not have enough for this next winter for my parents and brother. I'll We'll see. Current gripe of the day: US Post Offices still out of 2cent stamps. Good grief! Wrapping up a document today at work. Hours of entertainment as I update requirements traceability. Ah, the sexy and glamourous work of an engineer. If all goes well, tomorrow I shall be on to my next program. I get to pour through ancient documentation and find out what we need to validate our new system with the old requirements. Oh well, it still beats working at the old job. More tomorrowy.
