Well, I'm back from a week long vacation to the farm. I took last week off to head back to help with the spring planting of the corn crop. Just as I arrived home Friday evening, my parents announced that they had just planted all the corn. Hoom! Well, it turned out to be the right call, as the weather was rainy the entire weekend, and then turned cold for most of the week. So instead of bouncing around the tractor, I ended up working on firewood for most of my vacation. Dad and I cleaned out the remainder of firewood from our shed. The old firewood in the back had been there for many years and had begun dry rotting. My brother is happily taking that wood down to his place to burn this winter in his stove. Saturday was misty, sprinkly rains, and I worked out in it. Sunday was so wet and gloomy, I even stayed inside and took the day off. Incredible for me. Let me tell you this, there isn't anything to watch on a Sunday morning on regular television that doesn't involve politics. It took me another couple of days to finally fill the shed section . Besides working a lot with firewood, I even went out morel mushroom hunting. A local delight, my parents and I ate morels daily from all of the bounty that Pa and I found. My spots tend to be late season, so I didn't have much luck until late in the week. Dad knows of other spots, and he had better luck there. I prolly got around a bread sack's worth. Not the greatest amount, but more than enough for me. Otherwise, I got several naps in. I managed to get a slight tan going, and I have that red neck tan going as well. But now I'm back to work, and I didn't get jack done today. The first day back from a week off is just a write-off. Spent most of the day just going to meetings and getting caught up. I can only imagine how bad a 3 week vacation would put me behind. Well, I had better head off to the gym and see how much weight I've gained/lost. I'm hoping I dropped 2 pounds to get to my first goal! Tonight's blog brought to you by "Evil Woman" Electric Light Orchestra
