Sorry about not getting to you my blog much sooner, but life has been busy for me. To start with, I closed on my new house on Friday, Nov. 17th. Earlier in the week, I made a trip to the bank to secure my loan, so my paperwork for closing was all of 2 papers for my signature. Friday afternoon, I was off and shopping for cleaning supplies, and a ton of other items I would need for a new house. It is amazing the little items a person needs that he doesn't own until he gets a place of his own. Items such as shower curtains and garbage cans. I even got to purchase and then, with some help from Don, install new locks on the house doors. Saturday, my old roomie Don and I moved much of my meager possessions along with the some work around the house. On Sunday, my parents came down with my new bed and to help with the remainder of the move. I also put my Dad to work on some maintenance (caulking around the windows) while my Mom helped unpacked and while Don and I installed a news garage door opener. So far, I'm getting used to the house. Still several boxes need to be unpacked even as I write this, a week since I moved in. I'm still getting used to the new bed. It just feels like I'm in a hotel room, new bed, new bedroom, new night sounds, etc. However, it feels kindof good to have a place of my own. Then this past week was Thanksgiving. I spent Thur-Sun. back on the farm. On Thurs., Dad and I took out the remaining walnut trees in the front yard before they killed off the row of replacement pine trees. Fri-Sun., I spent most of the daylight hours out blocking up the oak that I've been hauling out for the past couple of years out of the timber. I really made some great progress, but I'm still a few weekends away from wrapping up. I also have a ton of walnut tops to block, but that may wait till next year. I have a feeling the snow will be coming soon, and that will put and end to blocking and then I'll be splitting wood. Oh yeah, Thanksgiving was good, the family got together and had a fine meal (thanks Mom!) of turkey roast and too many other side dishes. I'm afraid to see how much weight I've gained over this past week. I'm guess I"ll be at 170 come weigh-in tomorrow evening. Man, I'm glad to be done with the house buying process. I am glad I got a realtor to help guide me through all of the process. Now that it is over, I now know that the process isn't so bad after all. Of course, it helps to have a good bank and a chunk of starting cash to make the loan side of things go easy. And with that, I'll go back to watching some Bleach anime and then head home to do some more work around the house. Tonight's blog entry brought to you by "Inject the Venom" AC-DC.
