So as I'm writing the blog entry, the US Dept. of Homeland Security is running a radio commercial telling we Americans to be prepared for the next terrorist attack. I detest this propaganda machine. After growing up during the 80's and Cold War and communist threats to the "free" world, I can only imagine the groundwork we are laying for the next generation's worth of boogiemen and xenophobic scares. Kids today shouldn't have to live in the shadow of fear that I grew up in. But I guess those in power need these ploys to bend the public will so that they can find favor. Well, enough of the deep thoughts for today. On the good news front, I actually have a working phone again in the apartment. I guess Qwest found an open somewhere along their network. So, looks like I can actually mud again from home, if I ever get some free time in the evenings. BTW, I figured out how to put in a freaking paragraph with this editor! Who says you can't teach and old dog a new trick. So at work with the coming end of the fiscal year this week, I get to fill out my yearly review. What an asinine process, I fill out this form, list out how I met all of these corporate goals and get my raise that the managers had already decided upon weeks ago. Process for process sake is how it works around here. HR can't give me my raise without this "proof". Bleah. When I become pharoah of the world, HR managers will be the first ones up against the wall, along with marketing dept. people. But that is a rant for another day. Shoutout to one hard working wizard, Shinarae!
