When it comes to question the general assumptions and quotations of old, and perhaps once wise men, it's important to question what is being said. Using your own brains for thinking is indeed more than welcome as while the author might have been a genious, it doesn't mean that they got it right, does it now? When it comes to freedom, many things are said and some obvious points are left behind. No matter what you do in the world, you are always bound to rules and regulations, thus disabling the ability to be free. When we say free, we should say we are 'entitled to being free from certain things.' Being free, in the end, would be to be able to decide what we do or do not do. Inevitably we are not free, as we are bound by gravity and other aspects of physic which we are unable to counter in any way. To be free, is to have a choice to be free of them. Some say that death sets us free, yet that is hardly true. You are forced to die one day, you don't really have a choice. Now, to be truly free would be to have your world, world where you are able to control every aspect. Now that my friends is truly freedom, and madmen are closest to being truly free.
