I suppose I had better get caught up on the blogging. Two weekends ago, the folks and I, along with my sister and her rug rats went to the races on Friday evening to catch yet another exciting win by my little bro. at the Farley race track. He started out 6th in the field, and moved to first in a few laps, and then had a monster lead. Unfortunately, he slides around and stalls, causing the caution to come and push him to the back of the field. However, he races a good race and come backs from dead last to take the checkered flag. Unfortunately, one of the guys wasn't happy and called to have my brother take his car to the shop to have his engine measured. 90 minutes later, the results come back and my brother was perfectly legal. But, this means my bro. had to miss the rest of the races, we didn't get a family pic in front of the car after races were over, and my stressed out the folks the entire time. Otherwise, Memorial Day weekend was fairly quiet for me. On Monday, I hauled back my early birthday present, a pair of apple trees for planting in my yard. I have them in my backyard, on the south side of the house and on the southwest corner of the house. Then, another long week of work. I've got a pair of customers that have been working me over. I am hoping this week will go a little bit easier. This weekend was a free fishing weekend in the state of Iowa. Sat. I had originally planned to go fishing with Mom, but she got volunteered to go with my sister and her family on a shopping trip. So, I helped Dad moved a portion of cattle over to another pasture and then mowed the yard around the home place. Otherwise, a 2 hour nap and church and then wrapping up my reading of Steven King's Dark Tower series. In a nutshell, the series started off great in books 2 and 3, stuttered in 4, stalled in 5 and 6, and then nose-dived in the 7th book. Years ago I was worried he would never finish the series, now I'm not all that happy that he did. I did like the Gunslinger's fate, that felt right. The climatic battles with Mordred and the Red King and even Dandelo were complete and utter hackery. I could accept Eddie's fate and even Oy's, but Jake's and Susannah's, bleah. That whole happy ending with the oncoming amnesia of her past, wtf. Ah well, on to another series I guess. Then today, folks and I went down to Guttenburg to go fishing by the lock and dam in spite of rain in the area. We got a nice spot along the bank, where I start hooking into a pool of bass. I landed a pair of bass that were good enough to fillet. A couple more I had to throw back due to being too small. Mom got a couple of non-keeper bass as well. Right at noon, a rain shower moved into the area, and we split to pick up a Casey's pizza and ate that out on a park bench after the shower had passed. We then got home for a round of naps. After cleaning the pair of fish and asking and receiving a spaghetti meal to go, I'm back in C.R. ahead of more rains. Just a nice weekend all the way around. I'm looking forward to next weekend for my birthday is on Sat. Wish me a happy 35th. 8) Tonight's blog entry is brought to you by "Up All Night" Slaughter
