About time I get around to updating on the chaos and happenings in my life. Previous weekend was good, spent an evening out with friends for a BBQ and hanging around a fire pit. Good conversation and a mellow night to keep me sane for the days to come. Then Tuesday night, folks and I went to Aarron's wake. Managed a minute of Daryl's time, as there were still tons of people in line waiting to offer their condolences. I spent more time talking with Daryl's mother and other people I hadn't seen in a long time. Daryl looked tired, but in a generally positive mood. It helped that it was a closed casket wake I think. Funeral was on Wed. morning, folks and I again attended service and burial as well as a lunch reception afterwards. Closed casket funeral service as well. Since Lisa was still in the hospital, a friend of the family recorded the service for her to view if she wished. Warm day, but not overly so considering the time of the year. Funeral service opened with "How Great Thou Are" which always brings me to tears. I remember that song from the earliest funerals I can recall for both of my grandfathers. In fact, I can't recall a funeral service that doesn't play that hymn. So, my Pavlovian response is to tear up as soon as those opening chords are played. Service was alright, although the 15 minute sermon could have been cut down to 5. Both parents and I felt it drifted too far into preachy for a funeral. At least the graveside service was very short. Again got to catch up with people I haven't seen in years, but wasn't able to spend much time with Daryl. I'm sure in the coming months we'll be able to converse a lot more. At least work is going alright for me this week. If I can get through one big process snafu, I should be able to release on schedule. Also helped that another engineer went on travel in my place this week. Man, I REALLY hate travelling for work, and even more so for this customer. I will be glad to be done doing daily support for them. Just burned out. Just found out that Wade's wife Jolynn was in an accident. Nothing serious, but had to stay overnight in a hospital due to her being pregnant. And speaking of hospital, Lisa is recovering well. The doctors are talking about physical rehab starting up next week to get her standing again. Doing well this month with the diet and exercise, appear to be hanging in at 166 this week. I'm down to notch 5, last notch on this belt now. Just a few more pounds now, get those inches off of the love handles and the belly. Although I'm really dropping in brute physical strength. Really doubt I could do more than a couple bench presses at 225 these days. Although, 200 is still fairly comfortable yet. Once I can get down these last few fat pounds off the middle, I'll get back into more lifting again. Guess that's about it for me today. Heading off to West Union to watch a combine demo derby! Never seen one before, so this should be neat! Today's blog brought to you by "Amos Moses" Jerry Reed
