So, had my birthday on the 9th of June. 36 years on this planet called Earth.
At least I got a cake at work. Not much else in way of celebration.
Suffered at work all that week and then back home for the weekend. Something
about a major flood too! Got a record setting flood here in Cedar Rapids as
the Cedar River went way, way, way out of its banks and hit downtown hard. My
house is a few miles away and only got wet when the power dropped and the sump
pump quit. Nothing damaged fortunately, as my house has an alternate drain to
handle such a situation.

Ended up training customers most of the week on a software product. Kindof
nerve-wracking to get up in front of a bunch of strangers and ramble on about
a complicated software product. I can see why I'd never make a good teacher.
So during my lunch break, I would catch up on the latest flooding news.
Pretty incredible stuff.

Enjoyed that Father's Day weekend away from Cedar Rapids. Got Dad a nice card
and a pair of digital converter boxes for the analog tv sets. We went to
Dyersville for church and then to Pizza Hut for supper to celebrate my
birthday late and Father's Day. We tried fishing on Sunday, but the
Mississippi was too high and too fast due to high water levels. All the flood
gates were open on the lock and dam.

Spent another week at work fighting the good fight. The less said the better.
On to another weekend back home. Spent both mornings out in the timber
playing with the firewood. Spent the afternoons puttering around the farm or
taking a short nap. Finally, summer is here and the weather is reflecting it.
I can't believe how fast the undergrowth has leafed out and blocks my view.

Ended up clearing the logging trail from brother's deer stand to the bottom of
the hill. Kindof messy and nearly got stuck once. Boss popped in. Gotta
jet.
