So, for some reason I managed to become an area approver a year or two back, mostly so I could help with the oversight of my codeslaves. For the past few weeks, I've been approving a new area for one of them, and it has been quite a journey. It's a very complex area with thousands of lines of code, multiple quests, and even dynamic rooms...a very high-quality area. The thing is, high-quality also comes with high-work to refine it to our new, much higher area standards that didn't exist even 5, 10 years ago. My, it's a lot of work, but hopefully the mortals will be able to enjoy a nice, challenging area with some good rewards. Yet, on the other hand, it's a bit like plucking my toenails and eyelashes out one-by-one, in order to guide a new wizard in formal coding practices, proper English, as well as bug-proofing their area and making sure everything works right and well. I'm beginning to wonder a bit why I signed up for this, and is this even the kind of administrative work I want to be subjected to as I progress in levels as a high-ranking wizard? Yes, with levels comes power, but also a lot of responsibility. People don't realize the kind of work that goes into this game...yet they're more interested in running through the town with a burning torch than to rather stop and smell the flowers in the market.
