I went to Dave Holland Big Band tonight. I love live jazz. It's great energizer to cold weather or any weather for that matter. You always leave jazzed. I especially love big band jazz, I was thinking about it at the concert. I'm no musical critic. I don't know all the terminology. I played trumpet way back in elementary school and I can't read a lick of music really any more. I just know how it makes me feel... usually horny and hyper. I think like a big band, a sort of rhythmic cacaphony. Various instruments makes themselves heard above the rest for a few moments then pass back into this complicated cacaphony of rhythm. Most people seem to sit there listening politely, maybe tapping a hand or a foot.. Not me, I fidget terribly during the concert, swaying to this beat, then bopping to that, feeling each discordant note jar me out of complacency. It's kind of this whole body experience. Mind like a jazz band, Number Nine.
