So what have I been up to the last few weeks? A couple of Saturday's ago, I get a call from my credit card company wanting me to confirm a credit charge for over 1300 bucks on shoes for a .com called shoedini.com. I said 'no' and found that I've been a victim of credit card number theft. I got to go through the process of cancelling the card and getting a new one. The only way I can figure my number got out was that I used it on a business trip for a hotel room, or someone cracked the Earthlink db. What a way to wake up the day. Ended up having to work that weekend at work. Then more work during the week with the previous weekend coming up. Ended up going home to the farm to get away as my test station needed to get an upgraded PC assembled and put into place. I ended up spending my Sat. morning helping Dad de-horn the same group of cattle we castrated a few weeks ago. With Mom working on Sunday, Dad and I spent the entire day laying about watching old movies. It had been a long time since I spent a lazy day on the farm with my Dad. Then, this week was pure murder as our software efforts had to be wrapped up in time for the monthly billing to the customer. This meant all 3 shifts had to be worked and I ended up volunteering for the 3rd shift and partial first shift. The nights were long as the new PC did not integrate well as a controller. I ended up having to qual. the software using manual methods and smoke and mirrors. After working 16.5 hours on Thurs. to do the quals and the Friday to do the paper and process work, we managed to get the software released to make sales. All this had to happen due to levels of management not communicating and promises being made without confirming what was happening in reality. So this weekend has found me doing recouperation at the apartment. I think I'm finally get my sleep cycle put back into place. Although, there is something to be said for sleeping 12 hours straight Fri. into Sat. At least my motivation is starting to recover. Just in time for a potential snow storm to come ripping into the state tonight into tomorrow. Talking 6-8 in. of snowfall. *whine* I think I'd prefer the -5F high temps we had last week. Looks like a real winter is going to hit here after all. Starting this week I get to start my next project that is underfunded and behind schedule. Expect more whining in the coming 3 months of development I have to do this job in. I need a change of pace, maybe I'll get brave and ask that gal out. I just hope those smiles mean something more than just mere politeness. If only I were half as brave as I am in my imagination. Today's blog brought to you by Audioslave's "I am the Highway". Shoutout to Garok.
