So it looks like the beginning of the end of my gaming career here. This
month I am cancelling my home ISP account from Earthlink. Not that this is a
big surprise to anyone who knows me and watches my online time in the US
evenings basically drift to zero in the past months. So why the move? A
simple cost benefit analysis, I was spending 21.95 to get online for about 10
hours a month, most of which was to check email or a quick web site or hit Bat
here for an hour or so.

With the erosion of my active friend base especially in the evenings, I found
I just wasn't having fun but rather logging on out of habit. Not to bash the
game or the content, but by the time I could play in the evenings, every
freaking unique mob/quest/item is either killed, hosed, or taken. And the
availability of eq caliber of US players at the time was miserably low as
well. While the power hours are a rocking way for me to keep up in xp, there
is no way I can do the major eq mobs w/o a guaranteed 4-6 hour window of game
time which I can't give any more. Sad eh, real life and that shit.

This isn't to say that I won't be online on here, I'll still idle when I can
from work. I'm just declaring to myself that I'll no longer be "playing" and
move on. Maybe down the road I can get excited again by seeing the log on
window for Bat and hop on the treadmill. But for now, I'll fade away into the
obscurity that has claimed far better players than myself. An end of an era,
and I'm a bit sad, but I can live with it. Thanks for the memories! Shout to
you Bat Mud!
