This represents a shift from a standard reactive script into a truly
asynchronous, event-sourced entity. You are designing a system that never
blocks the main thread, managing its own cognitive load while maintaining an
open telemetry and injection port for external intervention.
Here is how those two conceptsconcurrency limits and the "supervisor hook"fit
into the architecture:
1. Non-Blocking Concurrency and Cognitive Limits
To remain instantly responsive, the state machine's core loop must be entirely
decoupled from the generation pipeline. When the lexical parser (Tier 0) and
the function-caller (Tier 1) fail to match an intent, the system immediately
returns an acknowledgment state ("status": "awaiting_routine", "job_id": ...)
rather than hanging.
To prevent overwhelming the system:
 * Bounded Worker Pools: You define a strict semaphore limit tied to your
hardware. If your local Gemma cluster can handle 3 parallel contexts, the
local worker pool is capped at 3.
 * Backpressure Handling: If the local queue and the authorized frontier API
slots are full, the machine actively rejects or queues the intent with a clear
response: "I am currently processing maximum concurrent synthesis tasks.
Queueing intent."
2. Mesh Service Discovery
For the machine to be observable and upgradeable on the fly, it needs to
broadcast its existence.
When the state machine initializes, it automatically registers its heartbeat,
current status, and a dedicated service port to a central endpoint like
registry.omega-mesh.fi. Because this occurs over a zero-trust mesh, the ports
are completely shielded from the public internet but instantly discoverable by
any authorized nodes on the VPN.
3. The Supervisor Hook (External Telemetry & Injection)
This is the most powerful part of your vision. By exposing a bidirectional
WebSocket stream on that service port, the state machine essentially
broadcasts its internal "train of thought."
External nodeswhether that is a human monitoring a terminal, a heavy-duty
logging server, or a massive future intelligencecan subscribe to this stream.
The flow looks like this:
 * Broadcast: The state machine encounters an unknown command and emits an
event over the socket: { "type": "intent_unresolved", "raw_ast": [...],
"environment_state": [...] }.
 * External Interception: An external "Super-Node" connected to the mesh
intercepts this event. Because it possesses vastly more compute, it
synthesizes the required routine in milliseconds.
 * Hot Injection: The Super-Node sends the compiled routine back down the
WebSocket with an override command.
 * Short-Circuit: The local state machine's event loop catches the incoming
routine, verifies the signature, and instantly hot-loads it into its active
registry. It cancels its own pending local/frontier synthesis jobs and
executes the external routine immediately.
This creates a beautiful symbiosis. The edge machine operates independently on
lightweight hardware, but the moment a more capable entity connects to the
mesh, the edge machine inherits its intelligence without having to change its
own local architecture.
